Hi Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Sue and I live with my lovely husband who I will call Mr V and our nine year old daughter Miss V in a small town in South Devon. Everyone who lives here talks about it as The Village so that will be my blog name- Vintage fron the Village Also in our family are two cats, two guinea pigs some tropical fish and a pond with goldfish I have always loved making things and love pretty vintage things which I hope to sell as well to fund my passion! I am addicted to buying fabric, ribbons, buttons, wool etc and love to visit charity shops and car boot sales.I love glasses of wine, gardening, crochet (easy stuff!) and I am a big E-Bay fan ! I also love to read other people's blogs which inspired me to start my own. I look foward to hearing from you Best wishes Sue

Anyone been to a Jamie Oliver party?

Thats where I am off to tonight - not been to one before.
Hope its not too expensive as Miss J and I have been shopping in Plymouth today.
Two pairs of per una Roma fit jeans (love them and they are nice and high in the waist for an old girl like me!!)
School shoes for Miss V - do you remember me telling you the saga before back to school of the £5 Peacocks school shoes?
Well- they were looking scruffy by two weeks and how they managed to get to half term I do not know. Sure they would have leaked if we had any rain.
Had terrible trouble finding anything suitable today - even in Clarks. She is a size 3 now (even though only just 8) only one pair she liked and they didn't fit very well.
We ended up in Stead and Simpson and got a pair thank goodness. £15 so a sort of halfway house price wise - will they last until Christmas???
They came in a funny narrow box- I dont think we better fill that one for the Samaritan's Purse or the poor kid will feel a bit cheated !

Anyway I better get the tea on - will let you know how the Jamie cookware party goes

Enjoy your evening, must remember to record Nigella

just testin photos

mmm - seems to work when I select them all at once ??

Bring it on Kirstie !!

Hi, hope you all had a good weekend
We did, we went up to North Devon to Barnstaple to stay in a caravan for the weekend. Just a cheapy 3 night deal from the newspaper but we have been there for October half term for a few years now and its great.
Here I am doing a bit of crochet ! I am making some scarves for Christmas presents.
We went to Squires  fish and chip restaurant - great as usual. That night the rain absolutely hammered on the caravan roof and the next morning we had a big thunderstorm - oh no
We went for a look around the town in the rain and in the evening we went to our favourite chinese restaurant called Fullam
On Sunday the weather was really lovely so we headed for the seaside, first we went to Saunton Sands which has to be one of the best beaches in the country, thenwe drove around the corner to Croyde and had a cup of tea in a really pretty cafe garden at the National Trust place Baggy Point, it was just like being sat in somebody's veg garden

I am still having trouble uploading photos so I will try again in a minute

In the evening we went for a meal with our friends who we go on holiday with - they live miles away in Liverpool so we hardly see them but they happened to be visiting a friend for the weekend so that was great

Moday morning we met up with our friends for a coffee, popped to Mum in Laws then came home

Today its been pouring down so we took Miss V swimming

Anyway back to the blog title- I see Kirstie's Home made programme is back next Tuesday
YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!  cant wait

I am still having trouble with the photos- is it me? I can only seem to get on on each post.
Shame as I have some lovely beachy ones to show you

Have a great rest of half term for those of you  who are involved and a big thanks and Hi to my new followers

See ya

Car booty

Hi there
Hope all is going well out there,
I have lots of treasures from the weekend, on Friday I went with my sister to a place nearby that I had never been to that sells mainly second hand furniture and electrical goods. Sister wanted to donate some items so I went along for the ride.
Well what a delight it was- upstairs in this funny old building that I think was a factory there was a huge room full of 'junk'- massive table covered with china and ornaments, shelves of books 3 for £1 and rails and rails of clothes
It was freezing cold, damp and smelly but we were the only people in there and it was so cheap !
I have so much stuff to sell I didn't get much but when I am after more stock and the boot sales have finished I will be up there  having a root around.

On Saturday I 'dragged' Mr V to Totnes to the Nostalic Mix fair. We had a job to park which is not uncommon in Totnes but well worth it. I met a few bloggers for the first time and bought some great buttons (I dont know who from) and some lovely fabrics from Sals Snippets
I also met Donna from Donna Flower and Lidi from Vintage-ish and saw some others that I didn't get chance to speak to
It was a great fair and I might pluck up courage to have a stall next time

On Saturday night Miss V went to a sleepover so I was free to get up and go to the car boot sale on my own - bliss !
It was in 'the village' and probably the last one of the season and it was the best one. The photo at the top is my haul
The best bit was a huge coffee jar and tin of buttons- there are some great ones amongst them, so pleased and I had a lovely time sorting them out and washing my favourites. They are still on the kitchen worktop spread out on kitchen paper and its almost Wednesday but I love looking at them !

I have been working lunchtimes at school every day for the lately and today I went for an interview at the garden centre for a temporary Christmas job.
Not ideal but have to pay for the washing machine and car repair somehow :(

Enjoy the rest of the week

How now brown cow

Hi there, the picture bears no resemblace to the post , it is just a brown cow we saw looking over a fence on a little walk we went on in the summer !
Anyway, its been great weather again today. I have just been clearing a few summer plants and dead tomatoes from some pots and re-filled them with bulbs, bellis daisies and forget me knots (these were 10p a pot from a table top sale - bargain)
I dont do much planting in the garden these days because of the chickens but the decking is my sanctuary as fenced off.
I went down to the 'village' this morning and went into the hardware/ cook shop to get one of those over door hanger things as ours broke and Mr V's suits came tumbling down.
I could only get another plastic one not metal so watch this space !

While I was in there I spotted their range of knitting wool had increased - goody goody
I saw some fab multicoloured chunky wool and a great pattern for one of those short sleeve cardigans with one button . Pattern says it takes ten balls and the wool was £3.50 a ball - what !!  Knitting used to be cheaper not dearer.
I have just come on the good old internet to see if I can buy it cheaper (yes I know I should support the local shop but I dont like the staff much !) and I cant flippin remember the name of it !
I will have to sneak back in there for a peep. I dont like to ask if they do what they used to call a lay-by service as I have a feeling she will think I am mad !
I was also impressed by their new range of Cath kidston mugs as well. Some of them were new designs to me. I already have 2 of them (the big ones) so I may put another on my christmas list.

Right then I better get some things done, I cant wait until The Apprentice tonight !
Have a great evening

I hate 'books'

Hi All
Hope you all had a good weekend. Fantastic weather today here in Devon.
I was called to school for MTA lunch time duty and it was almost a pleasure standing in the playground.
This will be a bit of a muddled post as I am behind with posting and I keep thinking of things to tell you....
First a belated thank you to Beki of The Ramblings of an everyday mummy for my parcel of goodies from the Shabby Chic swap
What lovelies indeed - A crochet doily (now on my dressing table) 3 vintage range hand creams
a china trinket box, a pile of very shabby chic pretty napkins, a rosy writing paper set and my favourite thing of all is a wooden hanging bird (now on my lounge door handle)

Thank you so much

Its just taken about ten minutes to upload those two photos for some reason ?

Also I ordered a couple of felt goodies from Gill at The Vintage Gardener, sorry I forgot to take a photo before  stashed them away for Christmas
I am very pleased with them and I loved the hen bookmark and post tag as well.

Anyway back to the post header about books - of course I dont hate proper books
but today I have started 'doing my books' and filling in my accounts book.
Ever since Ebay told me I had to upgrade to a business seller I thought I had better register as self employed. All a bit scary and I wonder what I have let myself in for ? !
It took ages as I sell lots of little items. I suppose I will get used to it and today I feel as though I am drowning a bit and wonder if it is worth it?
I love it though so I am trying not to worry about it and millions of people have to do it

Last week i did some sewing for a change and made some little halloween goody bags, I will put them in my Misi shop soon or if you are interested they are £1.50 each (free postage to UK)
Just the right size for some sweets for your favourite trick or treaters ??!!

Well thats about all for now- off to make some Horlicks !

Take care
Sue xx

Just popping by to say Hi !

Hi Just realised I havn't done a post this week, each week seems to go faster than the last !
I cant even show you any photos as I am on the lap top and the photos are on the proper computer as I call it.
Have been doing a bit of MTA (dinner lady) at school lately, was wet play today so I was in the foundation class, it ws great fun doing colouring and playing with some lego sort of thing.
I did spend most of the time trying not to breath though as one little darling had a horrible cough !
Out tonight at our regular 'Come Dine with Me' with 6 of my ex work mates so it will be good to see them and have a few vinos !!
I' m staying the night at my Mums who lives near the house we are going to. Its a haven of peace and tidyness, when I come home tomorrow my house will appear worse than ever .
Anyway I better go and decide which dress to wear (they have seen them all before so it doesn't really matter) I could do with a nice long sleeve Boden one tonight but I havn't got one  boo hoo
Back next week with a proper post
Have a great weekend
Love Sue xx
