Hi Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Sue and I live with my lovely husband who I will call Mr V and our nine year old daughter Miss V in a small town in South Devon. Everyone who lives here talks about it as The Village so that will be my blog name- Vintage fron the Village Also in our family are two cats, two guinea pigs some tropical fish and a pond with goldfish I have always loved making things and love pretty vintage things which I hope to sell as well to fund my passion! I am addicted to buying fabric, ribbons, buttons, wool etc and love to visit charity shops and car boot sales.I love glasses of wine, gardening, crochet (easy stuff!) and I am a big E-Bay fan ! I also love to read other people's blogs which inspired me to start my own. I look foward to hearing from you Best wishes Sue

The wanderering blog items have returned !

Hi all
I am pleased to say my comments list and followers have returned ! I dont know what happened but I am thankfull to everyone who got in touch. I was worried about it as was just finding my feet - anyway all ok now
Look at his sweet picture I had for my birthday. A few weeks ago I went to Totnes with my Mum and two sisters and saw this in the lovely shop This n That . We all thought it looked like me when I was little !
So that will be going up somewhere. Mr V always moans that the pictures he had before we got together are all in the loft and mine are all on the walls - surely not ?

What do you think of my really tiny coleus plant? I thought they were what old ladies had covered in dust on their bungalow windowsills (I am quite old with a bit of dust around so getting there !)
Anyway they showed them on Gardener's World last week and I thought they looked quite good - I didn't know they could be grown outside.
It is only a little plug plant so I will pot it up and see what happens - its called something like chocolate lime so that sounds good to me !
Miss V breaks up from school in a few minutes so here goes to the Easter holidays, I will try and blog as much as I can. Have a great weekend everyone
Best wishes and thanks for all the comments

Back again, I forgot to say _ Did anyone watch the BBC's  drama   Enid  last night ?
I loved it and loved her clothes !

Birthday Weekend

Hi  all, I hope you had a good weekend.  On Saturday I went with one of my sisters to the quilting show at The Westpoint Showground near Exeter. I havn't been to this show before as I dont do quilting (sister does) but I do make lots of things from pretty fabrics. I was pleasantly surprised, I always try and go the Creative Stitches and craft supplies fairs there but being just fabric and I suppose more of a limited audience it was a pleasure to look around and you could actually get to the stands and have good look instead of pushing your arm through the crowd and hoping for the best !

Here are some of the fabrics I bought, the roll has I think 20 squares od the most lovely vintage inspired patterns
Later that day Miss V had to shows to do with the Beavers group so quite a bit of running around to do but great fun
Yesterday it was my birthday - nice cup of tea in bed with Mr V and Miss V while I opened all my lovely cards and presents.
Mum in law always buys me a suprise from Cath Kidston - this year it was the lovely sewing basket and knitting bag - perfect !
In previous years I have had the CK Roberts Digital radio and the red spotty suitcase !
My other sister gave me these lovely Laura Ashley storage baskets, I expect I will use them for fabric
I also had these great books and many other lovely things - thank you
Well I had better get on with some sewing or the day will be gone. Going to visit a friend's new baby boy when Miss V comes home from school - lovely
Back soon  Sue x

Back again blogging but still not done the flippin ironing !!

A few more treasures I am selling on either ebay or Misi

This lovely vintage book - How to draw exotic butterflies and moths. A large paperback book with the most lovely illustrations which may look good framed or dare I say cut up for craft projects.

This is the jigsaw puzzle I was telling you about - what a lovely dresser !
The puzzle pieces are still sealed in a plastic bag

A very pretty vintage box of soaps - visitors disks (ooh goodness thats posh!)

A few more things to show you another day.
I can't believe that this time next week Miss V will be broken up for Easter- where did that half term go? !  I have the Easter decorations box down from the loft but we need to find some twigs when it stops raining to make our little tree. I like doing that.
Off now to watch Masterchef that Mr V has kindly recorded I hope
Enjoy the rest of your evening

Its been raining all week here in so called Sunny Devon, our poor chickens look like drowned rats and the lawn is turning in to a sea of mud ! They were ex-battery hens and they came to live with us last May. I hope they have a far happier life now
I took these photos on Sunday when the sun was out
A few of my many pots !
Well I better go and tackle the ironing pile, including the lovely table cloth I told you about the other day.

A few more things in the Misi shop !

Hi a few more springtime items made by myself just been added to
http://www.vintagevillage.misi.co.uk/

Table tops galore !

Hello , I hope everybody had a good weekend, I did -
First I went to a local WI table top sale in 'the village'
I snapped up this Hovis toast rack which I was very pleased but when I got home and washed it I realise it has been broken and glued back together- more haste less speed next time !

Not much else bought
there really apart from a jar of marmalade and a yummy fruit cake.
Next I went to an Easter Fair at our local donkey sanctuary but shock horror - no bric a brac table :(
I did buy two little geranium plants (rabbit just added to make photo pretty- he lives on my kitchen window sil)
Next home for lunch, then drove down to Plymouth to meet my friend Debbie who I worked with until recently for another table top sale. We waited outside in the rain before we were let loose at 2pm. She is just starting out making candles and was after some pots etc
This was a bit more sucessfull - I bought a great red ginham tablecloth with chickens on, now washed but too crumpled for photo yet.
A jigsaw puzzle which I have forgotten to photo but I will do as it has a great pic on it - I will be selling that on hopefully.
Some lace and a few books , one of which is an old one called - Radiant Health
the photo of lady shopping at the top is from it and there are some great ones which I will share with you gradually !
We had a hot chocolate in Morrisons cafe and caught up with the gossip then home for a lovely meal in the evening cooked by Mr V.  Lovely.
Back soon with more, enjoy the rest of your day

Friday 19 March 2010

Its Friday already

Well, where did that week go? Glad it is Friday of course but I didn't seem to get much done this week.
Lots of ebaying though, I felt I had to go to a different post office today with my pile of goodies, I expect the girls in there groan when they see me coming !
Anyway, a few pictures of things I have just listed on Misi
a sweet cottage shaped pomander
An Easter decoration I made
and a cross stitch sampler- sadly not made by me. I bought it a couple of years ago meaning to make it in to a cushion but its never been done ...

I have lots more to list but I am finding it a bit long winded compared to Ebay but I will get used to it ey

Off to a WI table top sale in the morning then an Easter fair at the Donkey Sanctuary where in the summer they had a fab bric a brac table so fingers crossed
then in the afternoon I am meeting a friend from where I recently worked to go to another table top sale - we know how to live it up !!

Have a great weekend  and thank you so much your comments and followings
Take care

Sunday in the sun by the sea !

Hello and I hope you had a good weekend
Saturday I was doing PTA Mothers Day craft morning at Miss V's school, helped about 70 children make cards for their mummies, very sweet !

Yesterday we travelled to North Devon to see my great mother in law for the day
It was a great sunny day so we went for a wander on the beach at Westward Ho !
The picture at the start is of the HUGE pebbles they have there !?

Here I am with bucket and spade ready for metal detector finds  ha ha !

A lovely day was had by all , and of course I had some lovely things from Miss V for mother's day

Will be back soon with next installment !
Enjoy rest of the evening

Charity shop finds of the day !

This was an ebay find which arrived yesterday along with a pile of lovely table linen from the same lady. I love the basket of sewing bits and wonder what stories it could tell -
I am sure that over the weekend, Mr V will say-
'How long is that thing going to stay on the lounge floor !!?'
This was from a local charity shop today, I was going to sell it on but I might keep it until after Easter - although a super offer might see me parting with it sooner  he he ! (excuse the water marks- obviously gave it a wash !)

This sweet dog was 25p !

Apart from two wooden coat hangers which I am sure you dont want to see, that was it.
I will just show you a couple of things I am selling  on ebay at the moment
A bakelite beehive knitting wool holder in lovely red !

Oh, the other thing is a great vintage patchwork bag but I must have deleted the photo after I listed it !!! sorry

Oh well I had better go - I really must do the hoovering and badges to sew on Miss V's  Beaver's uniform before tonight !
Have a great weekend and thanks for a great first week of blogging, you have made me feel welcome

Hi

Yesterday I was taking some photos to list some things on good old ebay and look what happened !

£2.50 each

and some things to make the stall look spring like and pretty !
