Hi Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Sue and I live with my lovely husband who I will call Mr V and our nine year old daughter Miss V in a small town in South Devon. Everyone who lives here talks about it as The Village so that will be my blog name- Vintage fron the Village Also in our family are two cats, two guinea pigs some tropical fish and a pond with goldfish I have always loved making things and love pretty vintage things which I hope to sell as well to fund my passion! I am addicted to buying fabric, ribbons, buttons, wool etc and love to visit charity shops and car boot sales.I love glasses of wine, gardening, crochet (easy stuff!) and I am a big E-Bay fan ! I also love to read other people's blogs which inspired me to start my own. I look foward to hearing from you Best wishes Sue

Look what you could have won !

Hello again

Guess what - I was lucky enough to be the giveaway winner from the lovely Gemma at
Dreams of a life in the country
For a change I heard the parcel postman ring the bell and flew down the stairs to answer before he sped off again leaving one of those red cards. I am sure if you dont answer in five seconds they go again.

Anyway look what was inside .....

A pretty dotty mug
Lots of reels of thread and sewing bits and bobs
Some lovely rose tissues
A ball of pink wool (am making some more granny squares and was thinking the other day I could do with some more pink ones - spooky!)
A little purple badge
and last but not least a great note book
all presented in a pretty box with green foam chippings just like a little hamper of goodies

Thanks Gemma

Do pop over and have a look at her great blog

Back again, I had a bit more luck with uploading the photos today

Anyway, spring seems to have sprung here in Devon. My daffodils have been out for about two weeks now and still going strong. The chickens dont seem to touch them for some reason which is great !

Below is the lovely modern but vintage looking wire holder full of pots, I forgot to take a pic while it was looking its best full of snowdrops and crocuses but hopefully you get the idea ?
I think I might put herbs in for the summer to brighten up my cheapo plastic green garden table.

Also last week I bought two posh looking brown paper bags with seeds compost and pots in ..
only £1 each from our weekly market (which is rubbish really and only has about six stalls)
Bargain I think, they have now been planted up  tomatoes and courgettes. So watch this space.
I just stayed on after my little school job today to help the children plant pots of runner beans and sunflowers so I'm having a very green fingered week.

I must go now and collect Miss V
I will be back soon to tell you about my luck as the winner of a giveaway from the lovely
Gemma at Dreams of a life in the country

Have a great evening

Happy pancake day and other bits

Well Hello again

Hope you are all full of pancakes - we are. I heard a programme on the radio in the car this morning saying how good lemons are for you in so many ways so I had extra lemon on mine and even the zest ! then I drank the leftover juice in some hot water , was nicer than I thought actually

Anyway spring seems to have sprung since I last wrote, daffodils everywhere
I am trying to upload some photos but it's playing up so I will be back tomorrow to try again ggggrrrr

Enjoy the rest of your evening

Oh crikey is it half term already ?

Where did the weeks since Christmas go?
Just a very quick post as Miss V breaks up in a few minutes and lots to do.
Spending some time with good friends this weekend then hopefully just take it as it comes for the rest of the week.

Have a 'chillin' weekend and half term

A bit of eye candy (stripe)

Hiya

Well its Monday and the sun is shining. It poured down all of yesterday - typical.
Never mind ey, I had an hour to myself on a rainy Sunday afternoon so I sat down with my knitting and a big mug of tea and watched Columbo - lovely

At last I have sorted out and listed on Ebay the lovely vintage candy stripe sheets
I mentioned to Mum in Law how well I had done selling some recently and she said she thought she had some stashed away
Next tme we saw her out comes a big bag full of them (my eyes lit up)

 Wide stripes
 Narrow stripes with frilly pillowcases
 Pink and grey stripes
 and pink and white stripes

Along with some odd pillowcases. They have been put away since Mr V was a child, so are truly vintage.
All now washed, line dried and ironed  mmm lovely
Have a look if you are interested

Also after my plea for help as to what this Laura Ashley design is called, I was informed it is Paper Doll  (which makes sense looking at it!)
So thats there as well
Well All this lovely sunshine is showing up the dust and the kitchen floor looks bad so I better get on.
Happy Valentines day to you - I will be back to show you  that when I have taken some photos

Hello baby !

Hello again
I hope you are all well

Look at this sweetheart, I found her amongst a pile of 'vintage' knitting patterns
She looks a little bit like my daughter when she was a baby, I cant bear to sell her so she is pinned up over my calendar picture !

Not much news really, been selling lots of unfunished needlework projects and patterns on My Ebay
I have recently listed this old picture mount

It says -
He loves and rides away  O! Ladies beware of a gay young knight who loves and rides away

!!mmm

Miss V has has a huge clothes clearout so I have got all her lovely hardly worn cast offs to list before I carry on with the 'vintage'

I havn't taken the photos of the sheets I was telling you about yet, it has been so dull and I need to measure them all as well, but they are washed and ironed so that is a good start!

Have a good day and I will be back soon ( I always intend to and then it seems to be week gone !)

Thanks to my new followers
